M83 performed at the Mezzanine, Thursday, November 10 to showcase their new album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. The show was originally scheduled at the independent, but tickets instantly sold out back in July. Because everyone was in such a hurry to get tickets, the venue was moved to the Mezzanine, providing additional space for those who wanted to see what M83 was dreaming about.

Upon arrival, tensions were running high as a group of us saw a scuffle just outside the front door of the venue. A line stretched more than half way down the alley leading up to will call. With tickets in-hand, I was pumped to see M83, and equally excited to see the opening act, Active Child. The trio, Active Child displayed electronic beats, while gracefully combining delicate harp melodies, drums, and bass. Even more surprising was the lead signers voice. It was quite unexpected mixing both high and low tones, which reminded me of a male version of Enya. Either way, I was digging it.

M83 started the show by going straight into their new album. The overall vibe of the crowd was pretty mellow, but seemed to pick up towards the end, and really jumped off during the encore. Hopeful they would come back on stage for a second encore, but the lights turned on and a rush for the coat check and a cab began. Overall, I really enjoyed myself and would definitely encourage checking them out live if you haven't already...
