Designer Discounts
I've heard, but never acted on some of the well known designers who've exclusively presented a line with discount retailers such as Target, Sears, and even distinctive brands like Gap inc. It's been a common trend to boost sales, re-vamp their image, and the strategy has been almost impossible to ignore, especially for those who like to shop on a budget. I first heard that Target was partnering up with Missoni from a co-worker of mine, who shares an equal passion for designer labels at discounted prices. Missoni displayed 400 + pieces which ranged from women's apparel, bedding & accessories. Once the news dropped, I immediately emailed a number of my girlfriends who wouldn't hesitate to make a list of what items they wanted to buy. Although Target didn't preview the line of items on their website, I was able to preview their look book by doing a simple search. Making a running list of all the items that I wanted for myself, I saved the date in my personal calendar, but little did I know how hot these items would be. My sisters are usually the first to inspire and influence me on trends, but I wasn't expecting mass text messages at 5 AM with an elevated urgency to gain access to the Target website. The website was consistently down throughout the day, preventing many shoppers from purchasing items online, and at one point there was so much traffic to the site, it eventually crashed. It was apparent that Target had set out what it needed to-do, get merchandise off the shelves, and it did, within 15 minutes of the product launch!
Recently Macy's has launched an exclusive line designed by Carl Lagerfeld, designer and visionary for Chanel. Although the line didn't create as much buzz as Missoni, at least they're still some key items you can manage to get your hands on, and not have to outbid greedy sellers on Ebay. Additionally, reality family sensation, the Kardashians, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe have launched their line with Sears. The three sisters are not seasoned fashion designers, yet their line plays into today's hot trends with a twist. I would definitely purchase pieces from each one of these discounted lines and create a look that speaks to my own personal style, but overall, the discounted designer looks are right up my alley, so keep them coming!
