Out of hibernation from their secluded cabin in Wisconsin, folk band Bon Iver is playing at the Berkeley Greek Theater this Thursday, September 22. Showcasing their self titled second album Bon Iver, was much anticipated after their well received first album For Emma, Forever Ago in 2007. The musicians evolution since the release of their first album was apparent once the first track on their second album was played. The group went in a different musical direction releasing 10 songs, representing a new place for each song. Bon Iver wanted to display their musical departure and overall growth as a group, and I'm thrilled to see them for the first time this coming Thursday. Calgary is the first single off their second album, which immediately got me excited to hear more.
Bon Iver is well known for it's delicate melodies and heart wrenching lyrics, drawing an emotion without any hesitation. Although it's going to be a mellow show, I'm ready to enjoy the tasty tunes of this group.
