Other Lives Opens for Bon Iver

Music either grabs me, or it doesn't. It's pretty black & white on whether or not I'm feeling it live, or streaming through one of the many online platforms, such as Pandora or Spotify.  Last night, Thursday, September 22, I attended the Bon Iver show at the Greek Theater located in Berkeley. I had only been to this venue one other time several years ago to see the Arcade Fire, which was just as memorable. The Bon Iver show was sold out, but it was impossible not to find a prime spot and enjoy some tasty tunes. We arrived early enough to catch the opening act called Other Lives. I've never heard of this band before, but I was ecstatic when they started playing. I haven't been this blown away by an opening act since I saw Phantogram open for the Antlers when they played at the Independent. The Other Lives are an indie rock band from Stillwater, Oklahoma, and recently released their sophomore album titled Tamer Animals.  Their songs provide a delicate balance of soft strings, heavy beats, and rustic vocals. I'm excited to hear more and spread the word. Provided below is their music video featuring the single 'For 12' of their latest album, Tamer Animals....enjoy!
