Last night, Tuesday, September 27, TV on the Radio headlined at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA. The stage was delicately lit with a starry back-drop, highlighting every magical moment on stage. Although its been a few years since I last saw them perform at the historical Fillmore, I was immediately reminded of how awesome this group is live. The group dabbled into several songs off of each of their albums, but nothing was more widely received than their popular song, Wolf Like Me on the Return to Cookie Mountain album, which closed the first part of their set.
Lead signer Tunde Adebimpe was captivating. With his unique vocals and James Brown inspired dance moves, all-in-all, the group didn't disappoint. If you haven't heard of this group, I suggest you put your headphones on, or keep a look-out for future shows. TV on the Radio is 5 1/2 weeks into their tour, so make a point to purchase a ticket if they're coming to a town near you.
